Textile dyeing

What is textile dyeing good for?

We often have problems with the color of our clothes. Regular wearing or stains can even make our favorite high-quality clothes unwearable. Washing, cleaning, and sunlight can also damage the color of our clothes over time. Perhaps we do not like the color anymore or it does not match our other clothes.

Washing accidents, when one cloth colors the whole laundry or we wash on a higher temperature than we supposed to, happen all the time. Don’t even mention the cases when we forget things in the pockets before washing: pens, dyed papers, and leather gloves. Or the times when we used chlorine, Domestos, and other acids to remove a stain, but instead we damaged the color.

Does this mean that I have to get rid of the damaged the clothes?

No, it does not! You should not only wear these at home, either.

Dye it!

Can be our first thought, and we usually try it immediately at home.

However, in most cases, DIY dyeing does not let to the desired result. We have a lot of customers, who’s first sentence is always “I have already tried to dye it at home”. When we tell them our prices for professional dyeing, they regret even trying themselves, since they get the best result possible at a low price.

The goal of our service is to make sure that you can wear your faded, stained, damaged clothes again. We choose the colors that will converge with the original, therefore it will give you a new, vivid color that will look like the new one.

Our expertise
Rely on the expertise of our colleagues, the materials we work with and the modern dyeing technology. What can be dyed on a budget, we will save it!

If you were wondering if the dyed clothes will color the skin or the other clothes, the answer is no: this can never happen. We use the same (or sometimes better) quality paints as the original, so the dyeing will be durable. Just be careful with washing (only under 40 C) and use your usual detergents for colored clothes.

Some problems can occur which can prevent us from dyeing your clothes like the fabrics, the finishing of the clothes (e.g.: the strength of sewing or sticking, etc.), the condition of the clothes (e.g.: aging, damages, etc.), details which can damage the color, or stains that can prevent paint to dye the textile (e.g.: wax, oil, etc.).

We tend to remove the label from the clothes since it can irritate the skin, however, it contains important information about the material and without it, dyeing can be risky. Usually, our colleagues can determine the fabrics your clothes are made of, however, we can only dye these clothes without warranty.

What to expect?

Dyeing is a similar process to washing. Your clothes are dyed in a pool, filled with water and the specific colors.
  • We use all the 11 basic colors (but not white). Darker colors make better results, like dark brown, -blue, -green, -purple, -yellow, -orange, -pink, -red, -grey, black and burgundy.
  • Dyeing with black gives full coverage on any color, however, some vivid colors like burgundy, red, yellow, or pink might be seen under. This results in very pretty colors most of the time.

For the color to enter the textile, you need time, specific temperature, and movement, so the dyeing happens on high temperature and mechanical effects.

All the textiles can be dyed what made of natural filaments

Some exceptions are:

  • Wool: can harden and shrink
  • Flax and hemp textiles (all rough textiles): can crack, turn marble-like, and cannot be ironed properly. This is also true for other rough materials like strong jeans.
  • Due to the high temperature and mechanical effects, some weak, ripped and aged materials will not survive dyeing without other damages.
  • Stained and faded clothes can be dyed, however the bigger the difference between the original color and the fading, the darker color will be more effective. In the last resort, we use black to cover all the damaged parts.
  • We also provide services for other items than clothes like canvas, linens, ribbons, belts, shoelaces for both private and business partners. Too big or long items cannot be dyed because they cannot fit in our pool.
  • We can remove colorings caused by other clothes while washing.
  • Sun damages can be easily removed from synthetic fabrics if you want your clothes to be dyed to a similar color.

Colors after dyeing (in case of 100% cotton clothes, depending on the vividness of the original color, this information is only a guideline, we do not always use follow this).

What not to expect?

  • All clothes have different colors and fabric structure. We dye more items in one pool, but all of them will soak in the color differently. We cannot dye a used item to a specific color! To keep our prices low, we dye various clothes together (after sorting them, of course). The different clothes will have different shades of the used dye depending on the original color of the textiles.
  • Textile dyeing compared to leather dyeing does not only cover the surface. The original color and the dye will converge e.g.: a yellow textile cannot be dyed blue since the result will be green. Textile dyeing will change the light-reflecting ability of the material. Each dyeing session will reduce this ability, so for example, if we dye a green textile with red, it will become grey. We can only dye one shade darker or the original color, e.g. red to burgundy or brown, light blue to dark green or dark blue. We cannot dye to a lighter color!
  • We cannot dye colored clothes to white, only whitening can be successful on originally white clothes, however, it will damage the material.
  • If contaminations can be found on the surface of the material (like wax or impregnation), it can prevent the clothes from dyeing. This is why we suggest if you have for example a brown oil stain, only brown dyeing can hide it.
  • Synthetic fabrics cannot be dyed since we would need 130 C to dye them, which can only be produced with 3 bar pressure, which cannot be used on garments. Combined fabrics usually can be dyed.
  • Because the thread used for textile sewing is usually made of synthetic material, it will not have the same color as the textile, but lighter.
  • We do not suggest you to dye garments which have a strong shape (like suits), because they will not fit the same after.
  • We cannot dye back to the original color! Dyeing clothes separately would be very expensive, and because of fading the coverage would not be perfect. Dyeing darkens the original color too, so the lighter the stains the darker the color we have to use.
  • On white and light-colored clothes, it is hard to tell if they had spots what had been removed with a chemical, or if deodorant has been used on it. We only color white clothes without warranty.
  • We can only assure the best possible result for the color of your clothes, but not the details on it (like clips, buttons, zippers, stuck and sewed details), because we cannot tell in advance if they will remain the same or get damaged.
  • To keep our dyeing service affordable, it does not include ironing. We also do not suggest you to iron dyed clothes.

Our prices

The price for the dyeing service depends on the weight on the clothes, therefore we determined our prices calculating with the average weight of the different materials. If your piece is significantly heavier than the average, we will give you a personalized price based on the weight. (We also add a minimum piece price). For special requests, we calculate the price personally.

How long does it take to dye my clothes?

We dye all items in a central unit. The dyeing is usually ready between 1-2 weeks.
